Bring It On October!

Oogie Boogie Fest last October!

I don’t know about you but I love the month of October. Why you may ask? Well in my family we have a ton to celebrate from the start of the holiday season, birthdays, and my wedding anniversary! However, there is one birthday that stands out more than the rest in my biased opinion and that is my husband’s. You see in the last couple of years the poor guy has been shafted in the birthday celebration. With different reasons being the culprit. I mean the poor guy didn’t get a proper hello to his 30’s because we had gotten married 5 days prior. Although if you know my husband then you know he’s not too keen about his birthday in general. It is only in recent years that he has slowly gotten into the idea of celebrating since we started dating 5 years ago. He is not one who likes to be the center of attention at all. He is a hard worker that just hopes his effort outshines any accolades people could give him. On many occasions he has told me the reason he didn’t like his birthday was that it reminded him he was just another year older. Also, he never thought he would ever get married, let alone have a future family. In his mind that notion just wasn’t in the cards for him but that is another story for another blog. Getting back on track from that ramble, I decided this year I wanted to surprise my husband and go all out for his birthday. So much so I was already looking into booking a weekend away with a couple friends. Well COVID shot that plan down real fast.

My husband must have read my thoughts one night as I was trying to come up with another idea. He simply looked at me and said you know what I would love most is to have a dinner with friends, play games, and just laugh! I mean could he get any cuter….well at least to me he is. I responded back to him saying that sounded like a great idea to do with a couple friends in the area. I also told him that since his birthday is in October it definitely needed a theme. Laughing, he quickly said that I should do a Coven party. Back-story time, my best friend and I have wanted to do a coven party for almost a year now and my husband knows this. Here was our chance at last, so I jumped at this opportunity. You see I am very lucky to have found a partner who supports my crazy ideas with a smile and a let’s do it attitude. So Coven it was! Well as the weeks moved on and the planning got underway it looked like it would actually be closer to Harry Potter theme rather than coven (still saving that party for my ladies another day) If there is one thing you need to know right now, it is that my husband and I are nerds. Like I have two pinups of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in my Living Room as we speak type of nerds. We love it all DC, Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, etc. So I figured that this would be a fun theme to jump on and luckily we have friends who are willing to put up with my antics and dress the part. So all this long winded blog was to say that I am throwing a Witches and Wizards themed birthday party for my husband and I will be documenting everything from party decor, to prep, food, drinks and so much more. So stick around for the next post here and on my Instagram! That’s all for now!
