Witches and Wizards Oh My!
So in my last post I mentioned that I was planning a Witches and Wizards party for my husband’s birthday! Oh my goodness you guys it was truly a magical night! You see, when I first started thinking of this party I knew that there was only one person who would be able to help make my vision a reality and that was my bestie/Tweedle Dee. I have to say that it couldn’t have come together without all of her hard work and support. For this night, I wanted live my best Christine McConnell life and transform my little apartment in a magical escape. After scrolling through Pinterest to get my thoughts together, we set off for Savers to see what fun decorations we could thrift. I knew that I was definitely looking for an antique/rustic/haunted mansion vibe. Luck was on my side when I stepped in the store on that Saturday because I found pretty much everything on my list! When I say everything I mean everything! From candleholders that could double as crystal balls, table clothes, and plate chargers. Added bonus was a price that couldn’t be beat! From Amazon and Target, I got candles to hang from the ceiling to give it an enchanting glow and a few other bits and bobs. For our menu we decided on sweet and salty charcuterie boards, chocolate cupcakes, homemade breads (thank the lord for my Tweedle’s husband because he made 6 amazing loaves of bread), and jambalaya. I think we all had massive food comas by the end of the night! But man was it worth it because it was all delicious! Now I have a question for you all … if a party doesn’t have drama was it even a party at all? Luckily, my drama was not between guests but my toilet and I. Oh yes the night before the party our toilet backed up and flooded the bathroom in an inch of water! It was hysterical and anxiety ridden at the same time! I have never had that happen to me before. Actually, it is one of worst fears come true lol! Thank goodness we live in an apartment and could have maintenance come and help us out. With that drama out of the way the party prep could get under way! We moved furniture to other rooms to accommodate a longer table to eat at, hung lights, set the table, bought pumpkins, and so much more! The day of the party I made jambalaya and baked cupcakes! I had even bought edible black prism powder to give our drinks for the night a sinister twist. Once all the guests arrived we played a murder mystery game called killer wink. It is basically another form of mafia if you have ever played that. Even though we wished we could have invited more people we kept it to a small group to be on the safe side. Throughout the night we ate, drank, played more games and most importantly laughed. Like I said it was a magical night spent celebrating my husband’s birthday surrounded by our Framily. Hope that this inspires your next party!
