Life With Betty

Oh man I have no excuses as to why I have not written a blog post in forever except for the fact that life and the sheer lack of motivation for anything creative caitie related got in the way. However, I do have an exciting life update! During the month of July, my husband and I decided to take a leap and get a puppy!  With the help of close friends, we were able to bring home the cutest girl Bernedoodle. Now I bet you asking ok why a Bernedoodle? Well, for us we knew that whatever dog we got needed to be hypoallergenic. We have too many friends and family members who are allergic to fur. We visited many shelters and just weren’t falling in love like I thought we would or they had been promised to other families. I totally thought it would be like a scene in the movies and we would walk in and BAM …. That’s our puppy! Well month after month without any luck and a year of COVID later, we had almost given up hope. So, we decided to take a break and that’s when our friends introduced us to the breeder they had gotten their Labradoodle from. Now, I know that a lot of people would not agree with us “shopping” instead of “adopting” and I respect that. At first, that was the plan that my hubby and I started with, but things just didn’t work out. To me, whether I find a dog at a shelter or through a breeder I am still going to give that animal the love and care it deserves and more! After introductions were made and we got to see what available puppies they had. I had my movie moment. As we were scrolling, I immediately stopped on this cute little face full of personality. Right then and there, we knew that she was part of the puzzle to creating our family. She would be the dog that our children would grow up with and be the companion I never knew I needed. In my heart she was my Betty girl and I couldn’t wait to bring her home. Now you may be asking…. Why Betty? No real significance she just looked like a Betty to us. At 5am on July 25th, my hubby and I got up and headed to finally pick up our girl. Since that day our lives have never been the same. Betty has brought so much joy, learning, patience, teamwork, and just endless love. We as humans truly do not deserve dogs plain and simple. Betty is even more special to me because she is my first dog ever! I have always wanted a dog, but I think the world wanted me to grow up a bit before I made that step in life. To this I am beyond thankful that I waited. I cannot wait to see where life with Betty takes us, but I know that it will be an adventure!
