Getting Sentimental With It!
So, let me start off by saying that I have never been one for the whole Valentine’s Day celebration. Even when I was little, all I wanted was candy and the potential of a class party. As I’ve gotten older, Valentines has just become another day to me probably because for the longest time I really didn’t have someone. Confession time: My husband is my first and last boyfriend, who I didn’t start dating till I was 25. Now that may not seem like a big deal for some but for me it is. I can’t lie, it would make sad to think that I may never share a Valentine’s with someone special. Plus, it didn’t make it any easier that a majority and when say majority I mean ALL of my friends were in relationships. So, I guess I have become a little jaded, not my best look. Luckily, I have married someone who is a little more sentimental than I am when it comes to days like this. With our work schedules it has gotten harder for us to find quality time together. We fall into the routine of wake up, go to work, come home, work out, dinner, sleep, and repeat. And when it comes to the weekend, we are homebodies who just need to decompress. This year however, we decided that we needed to say yes more. So, I said yes to having a Valentine’s date with my husband. Something that he had been hinting at for a while now. To start our day, we slept in till 11am which, we both needed physically and mentally. Normally we are up by 4:45am weekly and 7am on weekends. Once we woke up, showered, and dressed we headed out on our adventure. Masked up, we ended up walking around the Sherman Library and Gardens. Side note: I may or may not have found this place on Tiktok. There was something very peaceful about just walking and chatting our way throughout the site. After relaxing among the flowers, we headed out to dinner. Now, we are pretty wary of going to many places with the state of things, but an outdoor patio was perfect for the occasion. The best part of this restaurant there’s barely any phone service. Cellphones were put away and we just enjoyed each other’s company. Belly full of fajitas and tequila we headed home to be our best nerdy selves. Yep, we got in our sweats and played Kingdom Hearts on the Xbox. Just to be clear, this is our second time playing the series through. I usually do the walking bits and leave the boss fighting to my guy. To sum it up, this was the best way to celebrate because it reminded me its ok to slow down, enjoy the person I am married too, and know its ok to be a little sentimental. No flowers needed!
